Malacca, Malaysia

 Notes from the journal:

7/31

  • Took my bus to Malacca Sentral and hopped on a city bus to my hostel. Dropped my stuff and walked to A Famosa, Church of St Paul, the clock tower area, and then Jonker Street where I had amazing Baba Laksa and condol at Jonker88 - my favorite meal in Malaysia (I’m still dreaming about it)
  • Walked around to some temples and Little India which wasn’t very impressive. Stopped for some overpriced chai and then went back to hostel to rest bc I had a migraine
  • Talked to some girls in my dorm about the harassment we had been experiencing in Malaysia and then went to a nearby place for dinner but it was bad so I got ice cream at McDonald’s after (do u see the theme here?)
  • Went to bed and finallyyyy started to feel better

8/1

  • Woke up early and took the city bus back to the bus station, got some baked goods at the station and boarded my bus back to KL

Read if I referred you to this post:

The Malacca food scene (Jonker Street specifically) is amazing!! It’s definitely more touristy, but was a nice half day stop, and I enjoyed wandering around looking at the street art and colorful buildings. I definitely felt safer in Malacca.
